Research and engineering for complex problems.

HPCC64 brings human judgement and AI assistance to difficult technology, business, and social questions.

We examine evidence, compare options, and develop ways to turn decisions into practical action. The aim is to make the reasons, limits, and responsibilities clear, especially when information is incomplete.

What we work on

Knowledge people can check

Keeping conclusions connected to their sources, assumptions, and unanswered questions so that other people can examine and reuse the work.

Decisions with clear trade-offs

Comparing choices through money, time, quality, and risk. A promising idea still needs evidence and a decision about which risks are acceptable.

Systems that can handle change

Studying how technology, people, and rules interact, including what happens when assumptions fail or circumstances change.

How we work

People set the purpose and retain responsibility. AI assists with research, analysis, design, and implementation within an agreed scope. Consequential decisions and publication remain under human authority.

  1. Understand. Define the problem and check what the evidence supports.
  2. Compare. Consider alternatives, costs, uncertainty, and possible failure.
  3. Act within limits. Carry out authorized work and record what actually happens.
  4. Reassess. Revisit the decision when results or new evidence challenge it.

These methods may help with technology changes, service design, or testing a business idea before making a large commitment. Their usefulness must be checked in each situation.

Where the work stands

Current work includes written methods, technical designs, and research materials. Proposals for connecting knowledge, decisions, and execution are still being developed and reviewed.

This is an evolving research and engineering effort. It does not establish that every proposed capability is implemented, or that the methods are effective in every setting.
